For millions of Americans, sedation dentistry is truly amazing. Find out if it’s for you.
Sedation dentistry offers anxiety-free dental procedures as the patient is in a deeply relaxed state, though fully responsive. It means something even more important: a comfortable experience – often with no recollection of the time passed. We often hear from patients who express their gratitude and delight in their first ever visit to the dentist without fear.
Sedation dentistry protocols have been used safely for over 30 years with millions of dental procedures. Before starting any treatments, we review your medical history and explain how sedation dentistry can work for you. We want you to feel good about going forward towards a healthy new smile.
At Anderson Rumpca Dental, we realize that there are many legitimate reasons why people stay away from the dentist. It's been estimated that almost half of the population has some kind of dental fear, from people who feel a little uncomfortable, to those who are so terrified they can't set foot in a dental office. Whether it's fear or something else that's keeping you away, we offer many options for making you comfortable throughout your appointment.
Levels of Sedation
We only want to sedate you enough to make you relaxed, and let you have a comfortable experience. We have been trained in a number of conscious sedation techniques that deliver excellent results. We will work with you to decide which method of sedation is right for you.
Nitrous Oxide sedation is a very effective way for us to help you stay relaxed and comfortable during a dental procedure. It is a very light form of sedation which works quickly and wears off completely, allowing you to drive home.
Oral sedation is a wonderful option for patients as it allows you to be comfortably sedated through a long dental visit using just a small pill.
IV sedation allows us to sedate our patients at a deeper level. IV sedation is ideal for those who may require multiple extractions – such as wisdom teeth – but is also an excellent choice for those needing extensive dental work.
At your first appointment, the Doctor will take x-rays and diagnose your dental needs. After our staff gets approval from your medical doctor, we will then be able to schedule your sedation appointment. Contact Us with questions.
"The employees were all friendly. They explained thoroughly what would happen and made me feel at ease."
-Kristi H.
"A feeling of fear and dread would overcome me just at the thought of my dentist appointments before sedation. With sedation, I felt no pain and heard no machines. I did have to sleep the rest of the day, but it was worth not having to go through all the stress of thinking about going to the dentist."
-Vonnie S.
On the day of your appointment – whether you choose oral or IV sedation – a companion will bring you to the office. We will give you medications to help you relax and feel completely comfortable. After the procedure, you’ll be drowsy, but awake. More importantly, you'll be relaxed, anxiety-free and pain-free.
Our staff will make certain that you’re completely comfortable and we’ll monitor you very closely. Most patients feel NO DISCOMFORT during and after treatment, and have little or no memory of the visit. Years of neglect can be reversed in a few hours. With Sedation Dentistry, we may be able to complete most of your dental care in as little as one visit:
- Whitening yellow or stained teeth
- Replacing crowns or dentures
- Removing wisdom teeth
- Fixing chipped or damaged teeth
- Restoring sore gums to good health
- Root canals and fillings
